October Newsletter

Club News October 2017

Membership

Our membership keeps climbing; it's now well over 400 with over 350 full members (ie NZ domiciled Auto-trail owners). Have a look at our website home page for the stats. In my May newsletter I reported an increase of 59 since the beginning of the year; since then about 70 more full members have registered!

We operate on an informal basis with no executive or constitution; just a few wonderful volunteers.  The question arises – how long can this continue before we have to formalise our operation?

Change of personal details.

Sorry to sound like a cracked record as I often make this request. If you have a change of email, address, phone number, motorhome etc PLEASE log onto our website (autotrailusers.nz) and click on ' Update your details' and make the changes. It's so simple to do.

If you are no longer an Auto-trail owner you are no longer eligible to be a full member of the Club but you can continue to use the forum as an Associate Member. Just delete the boxes that show the model of Auto-trail and rego number and advise us via the ‘Contact Us’ button.

Rally at Waipu

Our rally at the end of this month (27-29 October) is fully subscribed. The response has blown all expectations with over 90 vans and 180 members attending. We've had to hire a bigger hall, set up a PA system and get a second dinner venue amongst other things to cope with the numbers. I'm sure it will be a most enjoyable, informative and interesting rally. The organising committee have worked hard to ensure this.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR THE RALLY AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED EMAIL CONFIRMATION FROM DENIS BRADLEY, CHAIRPERSON OF THE RALLY ORGANISING COMMITTEE, PLEASE CONTACT HIM IMMEDIATELY (377oto@gmail.com).

As with previous rallies, the various activities on the programme will be reported in a subsequent newsletter along with some photos.

Rally Venue

Chris Gaelic, our website genious and creator of RV Explorer, has posted in ‘Club News’ some valuable Northland sites to explore and park over. You can easily create your own personal trip plan in RV Explorer.  Here’s a link to our rally venue that is highlighted in RV Explorer:

Want an alternative to reading your Fiat manual?

The following link was posted on our forum under Fiat issues last July. It’s a Utube information video on driving hints for 2015 and  later Fiat models

This is most informative and saves a lot of handbook reading.

Mobil Fuel Price Changes

Many of us use a Far North Fuels Card (now renamed Kiwi Fuel Cards). They offer an email notification whenever there is a change in the national price of Mobil fuels. If you would like this service email Margaret Ware, margaret@fnffuels.co.nz, and asked to be put on the mailing list.

FNF will be at the rally to make a short presentation and answer any questions you may have.

Next rally

We have had one tentative offer - Napier. Please put you hand up if you would like to get a local group together and run a rally in your patch. It doesn't have to be big. Anywhere south of central NZ where our membership is more sparse would result in a much smaller rally than the Northland rally coming up.  Small rallies are just as enjoyable and informative. How about one in the South Island?

Forum on our website

Along with holding our annual rally our forum has been a most successful activity of the Club. There is a wealth of information being posted, discussed and debated on the forum, not only for specific Auto-trail issues but also for Fiat issues. Non - Auto-trail owners are welcome to be Associate members and use the forum.

Invitation from ATOC UK

Next year, they celebrate their 25th Anniversary in a major rally 18/23rd April 2018. If any of you are in the UK at that time you would be most welcome to join their celebrations.

I look forward to meeting many of you at Waipu at the end of the month.

David Buxton
